Spokane Parks and Recreation is Proposing to Double User Fees at City Pools

Spokane Parks and Recreation will be holding a forum on October 19, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. to get public input on the proposed fee schedule for the six city pools, as well as Dwight Merkel Sports Complex and the Franklin Park Sports Complex.  Parks and Recreation is proposing to double the daily user fees, as well as the cost of season passes at the six city pools, including the South Hill's Comstock Pool.

In 2010 children (ages 4-17) were admitted for $1 and adults were admitted for $2.  In 2011 the fees could be increased to $2 for children (ages 4-17) and $4 for adults.  Children under 3 years would continue to be free.  Youth season passes would be raised from $30 to $60, and adult season passes from $60 to $120.

Even with the fee increases an afternoon of swimming at Comstock Pool would still be considerably cheaper than going to the county's Southside Aquatic Center.  The fees at Southside Aquatic Center are $3.00 for children 3-5 years-old and $6.00 for anyone 6 years and up (2 and under are free).

The forum will be held at Woodland Center at Finch Arboretum: 3404 W. Woodland Blvd.
