Do you have a love of trees? Are you interested in seeing more trees in your neighborhood? Are there public trees in your community that need a little TLC? Then consider being a tree steward for Neighborwoods.
Neighborwoods is a national organization that encourages citizens to form small groups to plant new trees and care for the existing trees in their neighborhoods. Neighborwoods is being brought to Spokane by Urban Forestry, a division of the City of Spokane's Parks and Recreation Department. Neighborwoods groups will ideally have at least five people to start.
Urban Forestry will provide:
Educational materials
Workshops/classes
Trees, tools, trucks
Advice
Neighborwoods Tree Stewardship Groups agree to:
Conduct research within their neighborhood to establish community goals for trees
Commit to completing workshops to develop a plan for their neighborhood
Schedule meeting and events
Take responsiblity for trees
