West Wing Write-Up

A Review of Sorts

Jeni enjoying the baklava.
I was quite possibly the last person on the South Hill to eat at the West Wing of the White House.  My husband, Jeff, and I did attempt to go in February when it first opened, but it was very crowded and the wait was too long, so we ended up at Twigs instead.

We finally made it last weekend when my sister-in-law, Jeni, was in town.  The West Wing is her favorite place to go when she visits Spokane.

The atmosphere is very cozy inside the West Wing.  It looks nothing like Montana Wheat or Lazy Bones (the former occupants of the space).  In fact the only things that remain from the restaurant's former days are the garage-style doors that open onto the new patio, giving the place an open-air feel in summer, even when you are eating inside.

The food is delicious and of course loaded with garlic.  I had the spicy eggplant sandwich.  It was on a soft roll and stuffed with veggies, feta and creamy garlic sauce.  The eggplant was thinly sliced, battered and fried.  Jeff had the spring bowl with rice, garbanzo beans, veggies and chicken. Jeni had the traditional gyros.  Even the kids' meals looked good and were only $3.99.  The adult meals were around $9 each.

"I don't want this meal to end," Jeni said at one point.  This is coming from someone that lives on Bainbridge Island and usually has all the dining options that Seattle has to offer just a ferry ride away.
A nice time was had by all and we will definitely return, maybe even before Jeni comes back to town.

P.S. If you're worried about garlic breath, there are Scope dispensers in the bathroom.
