All Roadblocks Cleared for Jefferson Rebuild
Hart Field Preservation Organization (HFPO) announced earlier this week that the appeal of the group's lawsuit against Spokane Public Schools to stop the relocation of Jefferson Elementary to the west end of Hart Field has been dropped. In an e-mail this week the group said, "There are no words that can adequately express our disappointment." HFPO came to the decision because the group could not find a lawyer to do the work pro bono and HFPO still owes $15,000 in attorney fees for the orignal lawsuit. HPFO will hold a yard sale in June to raise money towards paying their attorney fees and continues to collect monthly pledges from its members.
Spokane Public Schools (SPS) has announced a June 13 groundbreaking for the new Jefferson Elementary School. The groundbreaking will take place at 10:30am on the west end of Hart Field and the public is invited to attend. SPS has been granted the necessary permits to begin the project by the City of Spokane. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2013.

Thank goodness; now we can MOVE ON and get started on the much-needed new school for our community's children. All those NIMBYs better hurry and get their houses on the market!
