Good Times at Manito Tap House

Does anyone else feel like Manito Tap House is the "go to" place on the South Hill these days? It seems like anytime I am invited to a group gathering, it is at Manito Tap House (MTH), which seems a little strange considering it isn't very big and is always packed. However, MTH's capable staff always seem to be able to squeeze in even large groups.

A friend had a birthday dinner at MTH recently and there were at least twelve of us and we were all able to sit together. Maybe that is the secret to the success of MTH and other small restaurants and pubs on the South Hill, like the West Wing and Laguna--keep the space small, the food tasty, and it will always be full. I know I feel a lot cooler meeting friends at MTH than at say, Twigs. There are probably just as many people at Twigs, but they are all spread out in the large dining room, which makes for a less vibrant (although quieter) atmosphere.

As you can see from the photo above there will soon be more seating available at MTH, at least during the summer months. A gorgeous outdoor patio is taking shape, with a railing and water feature being created by a local artisan. Who knows, maybe it will be finished by next week when I will be attending yet another group gathering at MTH.

  2. Hey guys, I am the local artisan, my name is Robert Sevilla Naudon, I am the metal artist that designed and fabricated the outside railing plus the beer chandelier in the entrance, the host desk, wine rack, designed the back bar & fabricated branded shelving/signage. Please spread the word & help out your local artist!
